    ScienceDaily (Jan. 25, 2008) — Research by a group of scientists studying the effects of heavy marijuana use suggests that withdrawal from the use of marijuana is similar to what is experienced by people when they quit smoking cigarettes. Abstinence from each of these drugs appears to cause several common symptoms, such as irritability, anger and trouble sleeping - based on self reporting in a recent study of 12 heavy users of both marijuana and cigarettes.

    From the tombac, Yusuf, the youngest of three children in his musically inclined family, quickly moved on to the santoor, piano, violin, oud, sitar, tar, and duf. He says he now plays “nine or ten instruments,” but considers himself accomplished in four: the tar (a Persian instrument similar to the Indian sitar), tombac, oud and piano.

    “I am a piano player, not a pianist, which means that I use the piano as an accompaniment to my voice and I compose with the piano. There is a difference: pianists don’t make mistakes while piano players often do, which is fine,” notes Yusuf, a self-proclaimed perfectionist. More>>

  • ( ) CEGEPs regularly use maligned 15-seat vans

    Quebec school boards aren't allowed to use 15-passenger vans to transport students.

    But the same rule doesn't apply to the province's CEGEPs, where the vehicle is a popular choice for sports teams.

    Preliminary results from a survey sent to about 65 Quebec CEGEPs show a number of them use the vans for sports trips.
